About Us

Our group specialises in a mixture of different types of dance: Modern Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Tap,  and Lyrical. We have a fabulous team of Dance Co-ordinators, with the support of our very talented Assistant Dance Co-ordinators.

Even if you think you have two left feet, we have an amazing team to help you on your way… all you need is a little rhythm and we will do the rest!
Have you ever thought one day you would love to perform on stage?
Well here is your chance!!! All exercise/routines are taught for the purpose of an annual production to showcase all you have learned.

Even if you don’t fancy yourself on stage, we welcome you to come along for keeping fit, for the social aspect, and the great friends you will make.

Step-N-Up

Lisa Richards

Dance Co-Ordinator

I first started dancing when I was two and a half, which is where I had the pleasure of learning from Julie Meacock.

I then took my dancing more seriously by taking examinations through Gazelle Dance School accredited by British Theatre Dance Association. I really enjoyed my five years dancing with Gazelle, taught by Dawn Allen (Vicky’s mum).

At fourteen I took part in my first of many pantomimes with Grove Park Theatre, which has included many roles such as Choreographer, chorus line, and back stage crew. This is when I had the pleasure of performing with Clare Roberts.

Jo Adams and I have been best of friends on and off the stage since we met up in secondary school at the age of eleven. We have worked closely together as choreographers for “Robin Hood” and “Dancing Shoes”. Our most enjoyable has got to be “Daisy the cow” in Jack and the beanstalk. The other organizations I have worked closely with are, Wrexham Musical Society and Tip Top Productions.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to be involved with “Step-N-Up” as this is my passion. I am confident this dance company will be a massive success!!!

I started dancing at the age of seven, with “Top Hat and Tails” and haven’t looked back since. At the age of eleven I joined Grove Park Theatres Youth Section. There I took part in many performances which included a showcase at the Eisteddfod in Llangollen.

At thirteen I took part in my first of many pantomimes with Grove Park Theatre, which has included many roles such as Choreographer , chorus line, and back stage crew. This is when I had the pleasure of performing with Clare Roberts.

When I’m not on stage I work full time as a Deputy Manager at “Monument Place”, a children’s nursery in Cheshire.

Clare Roberts

Dance Co-Ordinator

Clare first started her ‘theatrical career’ (ha!) at the age of 3 when her mum (sorry mum) ‘misplaced’ her at a holiday park club one evening. She was eventually tracked down a few minutes later on the stage as she had entered herself in a talent competition singing ‘Meet Me In St. Louis’ for which she subsequently won 3rd place in the under 12 category (Awww). She has not looked back since.

Although she did attend some dance classes as a child her main experience has been during her time at Grove Park Theatre where she has been a member since the age of 10 and has appeared in many pantomines, musicals and various plays. She was most recently seen in Mack and Mabel at the Forum Theatre with Tip Tip Productions and will be Assistant Director for this year’s panto Aladdin at Grove Park Theatre.

In a role as choreographer Clare spent 18 months with Dancing Shoes and Assisted the choreographer for the last 2 panto’s at Grove Park.

In her ‘normal life’ Clare is a Medical Secretary in the Wrexham Maelor Hospital working for two Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeons and has lived with her boyfriend Karl in Ruabon for over 3 years.

Clare is very much looking forward to starting on this new adventure and hopes that you will join her.

Geogri Adams

Assistant Dance Co-Ordinator

Hi my name is Georgi. I have just finished my G.C.S.E s, and I’m off to Yale in September to study performing arts.

I have always enjoyed Dancing around the living room as tot! At the age of 7 I decided to take things more seriously. I joined “Grove Park Theatres” junior chorus in the Pantomime, which I then moved to the senior role. I continued to do panto’s for the next 8 years.

I joined grove park youth theatre at the age of 10. Some of my favorite theatre experiences are: Nancy in Oliver Twist, Dolores in Be My Baby… Earlier this year I was called back for auditions for T.V series skins.

Apart from Dancing, and Acting, I am the lead singer in two bands Femme Fatalle and Run Baby Run. I have played in gigs all over the country, recorded one album and we are currently working on the second.

I have been given the position of Assistant Dance Co-Ordinator for Step-N-Up. I am really looking forward to putting my ideas forward. I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of such an amazing group of talented dancers; I’m really looking forward to the future of this dance group.

Sammie Evans

Assistant Dance Co-Ordinator

Welcome everyone, I’m Sammie. From a young age of 5, I first joined a gymnastic group in Buckley which is where I learnt my “aero-dynamic” moves! Some of which include back flips, front flips and no handed cartwheels! I had lots of fun being a gymnast and stayed in the group until I was 15.

I was involved with the “Rocky Horror Show” at age 11 with the Groves High School, where I took a fancy to the stage. I was invited as a special guest to appear in Dancing Shoes’ first production to showcase my skills. This made a lasting impression, which made me decide to incorporate my experience and moves into dance.

Due to my hard work and efforts I was appointed Assistant Choreographer at Dancing Shoes, which is where I found my flare for learning and teaching dance routines.

I have a Distinction star in BTEC Sports 1st Diploma and will be taking up a National Diploma in Performing Arts.

Jasmine Formstone

Assistant Dance Co-Ordinator

Hi I’m Jazz. I’m fourteen years old and have been dancing since I was ten.

I have been in the panto “RobinHood and the Babes in the wood”, where I played Rosie and it was a Brill experience.

Since then I have been in several dance shows which were performed at the Grove Park Theatre through Dancing shoes and loved choreographing my own dances.

I have been with Delta School of Performing Arts; I performed in the play “The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge” at the William Aston Hall.

I love every minute of dancing which has given me confidence and I have met some of my closest friends through it.

Amelia Rock

Assistant Dance Co-Ordinator

Hey everyone pleased to meet you, my name is Amelia I’m 17 years old and currently studying for my A-Levels in drama. Well… what can I say… I have been dancing since the age of 3, attending a local ballet school.

At the age of 5, I moved on to join “Top Hat and Tails” where I fell in love with being on stage. From here at the age of 8, I decided to get involved with the annual pantomimes at “Grove Park Theatre” all 9 pantomimes I have thoroughly enjoyed, and would recommend it to all !

Having enjoyed pantomimes so much I decided to join Grove Park Youth Theatre when I was 13, which I am still currently a member.

With the success of the dancing, I joined Dancing Shoes at the age of 14. Step-N-Up has given me the opportunity to further my knowledge and enhance my career!!

Look forward with dancing with you all.
